How long does it take to get my medical card?
Your ReThink-Rx medical marijuana doctor visit typically takes less than 15 minutes. At ReThink-Rx you will obtain your card immediately by secure email so that you can start purchasing medical marijuana products from dispensaries right away.
How old do I need to be?
ReThink-RX provides our services to those over the age of 18.
Special consideration will be given to patients under age 18, but must be arranged by their parent or guardian and must be approved for evaluation beforehand by the doctor.
What is the total cost of getting my medical card?
We are proud of our low pricing. Just $99 for an initial evaluation and $99 for renewals. This fee covers everything you need: your evaluation, telehealth visit, and medical cannabis certification. We also provide 12 months of access to our medical providers at no additional cost.
While it is no longer required in Virginia, some patients may still want to register with the Board of Pharmacy. If you would like to, they will charge you an additional $50.
Will my insurance cover the cost of my Virginia medical marijuana card?
Some insurance companies may cover the cost of a Virginia medical marijuana card, but it is not required by law. Patients should check with their insurance providers to see if they offer coverage for medical marijuana cards before applying for one. If your provider won’t cover the cost of your card, you’ll have to pay out-of-pocket for it.
Can I use a card from another state to purchase Virginia medical marijuana?
No, you cannot use a medical card from another state to purchase medical marijuana in Virginia. The state of Virginia does not currently have any reciprocity agreements with other states. Other states, however, may accept a Virginia certificate to allow access to their medical marijuana facilities.
Can I use my Virginia medical marijuana card in other states?
Yes–there are some states that allow patients with Virginia medical marijuana cards to purchase medical marijuana products from their dispensaries. Currently, Washington D.C. is the only territory that allows Virginians to do so without any exceptions. The following states also offer reciprocity, though there are some exceptions:

- Maine
- Missouri
- Montana
- Nevada
- New Hampshire
- New Jersey
- New Mexico
- Oklahoma
- Rhode Island
- Utah
Since there are exceptions to those states’ reciprocity laws, make sure you do your research before trying to purchase medical marijuana in those states with your Virginia MMJ card.
